The search for the perfect Running Shorts...

I have been having this discussion with my fellow running girlfriends for a few seasons now, we can't find the perfect running short. We no longer wear the Nike "diaper" shorts, you all know what I'm referring too and you hit a certain age where some shorts are just too short!  I am a huge fan of running skirts but sometimes you want to wear shorts.  Here are the things I am looking for in my PERFECT running short:

1) A 2.5-4 in inseam.

2) A decent side split in the short to allow movement and not feel tight on the your legs (especially if you have very muscular thighs from many years of playing soccer)

3) A thick waistband that stays in place and sits low.

4) Built-in underwear.

5) At least one small pocket.

6) Cannot be tight on the legs.

7) A little longer in the center to prevent chaffing.

8) Lightweight and moisture wicking.

9) I don't want to have to adjust anything while running, they should feel like they aren't there.

Below are the shorts I have found while searching online and in stores. I have picked up the Athleta shorts and the new Lululemon ones. The new Lululemon ones are the same as their super popular Speed Short but with a little more length. I wore the Athleta ones today for a 9 mile run and they were pretty good, I'm not in love but they are a good start.  I'm really interested in trying out the Oiselle shorts, they are getting great reviews!

Brooks Epiphany Shorts, Asics ARD Split Short, Athleta Printed Pulse Short, Lululemon Run Times Short, Oiselle Roga Short,  Oiselle Distance Short

Have you found the perfect running short? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Early Spring Fitness Faves. Ready for some new kicks!

The weather isn't changing but I am ready for a change (I know everyone is!). I am also ready to shedd all of my winter layers and get into some new clothes.  I love that all of the stores are getting in their spring clothes and it is hard to resist buying a new tank top, skirt, dress...but that's the great thing about workout clothes you can wear tank tops, shorts, and skirts all year long when exercising indoors! So new tank tops, shorts, and running skirts here I come!

Favorites from the list above:
The Mat: After practicing yoga for four years I finally got an upgrade to my freebie yoga mat I had, thanks hubby for the great holiday gift! This mat is worth the money ($68), no need for a yoga towel this mat wicks away sweat and absorbs moisture, it has a nice cushy but not too cushy feel, and it contains an antimicrobial additive that helps prevent mold, bacteria, and fungus from taking over which is extremely important when you frequently partake in hot yoga.

Fast Track Tank: I have had tank tops like this before; seamless, lightweight, with wicking properties but all have seemed to ride up or roll up while running.  This one is different! The bottom edge is lined with silicon dots to keep it in place, genius!

I also have two trail running shoes on the list. I'm in the process of researching trail shoes as I have never purchased or needed a pair before. I recently signed up for a trail half and want to make sure I am in the best shoe for my feet and body.  If you have any suggestions or recommendations I would love to know!

Happy Friday, have a wonderful weekend, and happy Valentine's day!
