It's been awhile since my last beauty post. I still have a great love for products but my routine has stayed pretty simple and constant lately. The one product I recently found and have already hooked many of my girlfriends on is Nars Eyebrow Gel. Besides getting my eyebrows waxed and weekly tweezing maintenance I never paid much attention to my brows. A few years ago I bought a brow pencil that I didn't love but used it occasionally never really noticing a difference. About two months I was chatting with one of the girls at Blue Mercury about eyebrows and how they really shape a person's face and create definition. She mentioned I should try the Nars product and it is really great! It goes on so easy with a mascara like wand and it stays on all day. It comes in 4 colors (I used Athens), fills in brows and gives them more shape by using the wand to lift up your brows as you brush in the gel and then gently brush them towards their natural shape. And you probably all know this but Tweezerman makes the best tweezers. The combination of the two is perfect for shapely eyebrows and a more contoured face:-)
For your face...All Day Moisturizer with SPF
Changing your face regimen from winter to summer can often times cause irritation and breakouts. Sometimes in the summer I feel like I can go moisturizer free and only use my illuminating primer, and other days especially after I have been running and my skin feels hot I need something soothing and moisturizing.
My mom gave me a sample size of the Estee Lauder DayWear moisturizer and I fell in love.
It is super moisturizing, it goes on a little thick but dries quickly. I love the fact that it contains SPF but you would never know by the smell, it has a fresh light cucumber scent. Lastly, I agree with the name DayWear it keeps my makeup lasting throughout the day and my face feels hydrated! Add this to your makeup bag for your daily routine, it's in mine:-)
Do you change your beauty routine as the seasons change? If so, what do you do differently?
For the face...Illuminating Primer. I'm in!
Last weekend when lipstick shopping the makeup artist asked if I wanted to try any other product, of course I would exclaimed! She asked what primer I use and then suggested I give Tom Ford's a try. Wow.
I was going to explain to you how it feels on the skin but thought it was best said by the company...
"The Tom Ford Infusing Complex infuses skin with a potent combination of specially selected nutrients that help skin stimulate its natural repair mechanisms. By helping skin cells replenish their natural energy, it fundamentally rejuvenates the complexion, so it looks and feels brighter, fresher and less tired. High-performing antioxidants help protect the skin, creating a vital-looking face. The skin is left looking renewed, resilient and smoother."
After using the product, I agree. The saleswoman explained to me that it is moisturizing enough that in the summer you can use it in place of your moisturizer. It's true. It leaves skin feeling silky and hydrated. Makeup goes on very smoothly and does not leave crease lines. Since it also is an illuminator in addition to a primer it adds a lovely glow to the skin, leaving you with a more dewy and brightened finish. With that being said, if you are going for a natural look, swipe on some primer, a little blush, lipgloss, and mascara and you are good to go! In the summer its a great item to shorten your routine.
The price point is quite high at $70 and with that being said you only use a small amount, but that is all that is needed. It was a birthday gift to myself, and I think I might splurge for it again in the future. Looks luxurious and feels luxurious too!
For your face...New Favorite Eyeliner. It's magical!
I have been true to two eyeliners since college, one being a MAC eye pencil and the other being Bobbi Brown's long-wear gel eyeliner (in a pot). Both are great but the pencil was only really good for under the eye and the gel was only good for above the eye. I have now found one that does both fantastically!
Bobbi Brown's newest addition to her eyeliner collection, a version of the gel eyeliner in a pencil form! It goes on smooth but has a fine tip point for intense definition. What I love so much is that you can blend it easily for a soft, smudgy look or keep it fine for a lovely cat eye. It comes in 6 different colors and it truly lasts all day and into the night!
I purchased it in jet, but black navy, mahogany and smoke are all on my list:-)
A must have for the makeup bag.
