It's been awhile since my last beauty post. I still have a great love for products but my routine has stayed pretty simple and constant lately. The one product I recently found and have already hooked many of my girlfriends on is Nars Eyebrow Gel. Besides getting my eyebrows waxed and weekly tweezing maintenance I never paid much attention to my brows. A few years ago I bought a brow pencil that I didn't love but used it occasionally never really noticing a difference. About two months I was chatting with one of the girls at Blue Mercury about eyebrows and how they really shape a person's face and create definition. She mentioned I should try the Nars product and it is really great! It goes on so easy with a mascara like wand and it stays on all day. It comes in 4 colors (I used Athens), fills in brows and gives them more shape by using the wand to lift up your brows as you brush in the gel and then gently brush them towards their natural shape. And you probably all know this but Tweezerman makes the best tweezers. The combination of the two is perfect for shapely eyebrows and a more contoured face:-)
For your Face...Night time Routine. Less than 5 minutes.
Here it is, the full night time routine. I have done posts about most of the products below individually but here it all is together.
Clarisonic//Cetaphil//M-61 Power Glow Peel//Avene Retrinal//M-61 HydraBoost
First, the mascara I use does not require makeup remover, just some warm water and it comes off quite nicely but for those of you who do remove your eye makeup first.
Step 1: Cleanse skin. I use my Clarisonic and a gentle cleanser. The Clarisonic is great for getting the dirt of your face and leaving your skin feeling CLEAN. I always feel like the products used post Clarisonic actually get into my skin.
Step 2: Not every night but 2-3x per week I use my M-61 Power Glow Peel Pads. More about those here.
Step 3: Use an anti-aging/anti-wrinkle product that contains Vitamin A. I use Retrinal, a very mild form of retinal.
Step 4: EYE CREAM! Make sure to hydrate the skin around your eyes in both the morning and night. Keeping your very delicate skin around your eyes hydrated is a big key for avoiding wrinkles, crow's feet and dry skin.
I have to admit I have those nights where I am just too tired to do anything but splash water on my face and call it but it really only takes a few minutes to give your skin the attention it needs and the difference is huge!
What does your evening routine look like?
For your...face. Splurge vs. Steal Face Wash Edition.
Do you spend a lot of money on beauty products? I sometimes find that new special product that is worth the splurge. Usually those products I am only using for special occasions like my Tom Ford Lipstick, Tom Ford Primer, and my Burberry Highlighter. Then you have your products that you use everyday, twice a day. Do you splurge or save when it comes it your staple items and can you do it and still get great product?
Here are my three current favorite/best face washes that all are very mild and gentle in feel, smell and effect.
Revive is a clear liquid yet feels very lush and gets slightly soapy. It is very gentle and leaves skin feeling smooth and bright!
Clinique Comforting Cream Cleanser has been in rotation for face wash since I was about 18 years old. It really does feel comforting. It does not get soapy but feels more like a moisturizer. You can gently rub it on your face without mixing with water and then gently wash off with a wet washcloth. Leaves skin feeling smooth and soft.
Cetaphil Cleanser is great and especially for its price. It is very gentle, yet effective at removing makeup and leaving skin feeling clean without any irritation. Great to use with your Clarisonic.
Revive, Clinique, Cetaphil
For your face...All Day Moisturizer with SPF
Changing your face regimen from winter to summer can often times cause irritation and breakouts. Sometimes in the summer I feel like I can go moisturizer free and only use my illuminating primer, and other days especially after I have been running and my skin feels hot I need something soothing and moisturizing.
My mom gave me a sample size of the Estee Lauder DayWear moisturizer and I fell in love.
It is super moisturizing, it goes on a little thick but dries quickly. I love the fact that it contains SPF but you would never know by the smell, it has a fresh light cucumber scent. Lastly, I agree with the name DayWear it keeps my makeup lasting throughout the day and my face feels hydrated! Add this to your makeup bag for your daily routine, it's in mine:-)
Do you change your beauty routine as the seasons change? If so, what do you do differently?
