Green Detox Bowl. Enjoy. Indulge. Detox.

It happens- we eat too much, maybe drink too much and every once in a while that's ok! What happens after we indulge is what's important. It is easy to have one bad night and then tell yourself you've already made one bad food decision what's one more, this is where you stop yourself and hit the reset button.
Here are my suggestions for when you know you know you might overindulge:
1) Get in a good workout the day before and the day of indulgence.
2) Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated helps with bloating and can help you feel satiated, preventing you from overeating.
3) Have a workout planned for the next day, something that will get your blood pumping and a good sweat going.
4) Plan a healthy day of eating following your overindulgence; including lots of leafy greens, lean protein, and antioxidant rich foods.

Start your day with my green detox bowl! It is packed with antioxidant rich foods, ingredients to aid in digestion, hydrating coconut water to flush your system, and some extras for energy. This bowl is dairy free and gluten free! The recipe makes two servings, you can share or place the second half in a mason jar and enjoy the next day!

Vegalicious.

I was so excited when my favorite protein powder company contacted me asking if I wanted to give their starter kit a try, of course I would!  I found Vega after doing some searching last year for a clean, tasty, plant-based, and nutrient rich protein powder.  When looking I came across so many different brands with 100s of ingredients in their products but Vega contains only natural, whole food ingredients.  Vega One is dairy, gluten and soy free, and contains no added sugar, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners.  You get all of the benefits of their product in less than 150 calories!  I love how clean the product is and  I love that their packaging gives you a quick breakdown of just how beneficial their stuff is!

My Vega starter kit.

The Vega starter kit is the perfect package to give  their shakes a try without investing a lot of money in a product you want to try out..  The package comes with 5 different single serving shakes in chocolate, vanilla, and berry, as well as a quick start guide with recipes and nutrition tips, and a $5 dollar off coupon. Prior to receiving this package I had only tried the Vanilla Chai (which I love) so I was excited to try the new flavors and whip up some tasty smoothies.

I really enjoy all of the flavors.  The vanilla is the most mild and goes with everything and the chocolate is the perfect guilt free way to add sweetness to your morning routine.

Some mornings I simply mix a  1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, ice, water, shake and go. On days when I have a few extra minutes in the morning I make a smoothie incorporating my Vega protein.  I am really pleased by how satiated I am after having my protein shake in the morning, being hungry is not good when you are teaching 5 hours of Pilates in a row starting at 6am...a hangry teacher is not a good teacher.

Cherry  Berry Vega Smoothie
1 pack of Berry Vega All-in-one Nutritional Shake
1/2 cup frozen Cherries
1/2 cup frozen Raspberries
1/2 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1/2 cup Water

Blend and enjoy!

Raspberry Chocolate Vega Shake
1 cup frozen raspberries
1 packet chocolate all-in-one nutritional shake
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Blend and go! It's like a drinking a super healthy dessert in the morning:-)

The Pumpkin P ie Smoothie (recipe from Vega recipe center)
1/2 cup pure pumpkin puree
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 scoop Vanilla all-in-one nutritional shake

Blend and drink up!  I was a little nervous to give this a try, as much as  I love pumpkin I had yet to put t in a smoothie but it was gooood.  Pie for breakfast who can complain.

Thank you Vega for providing me with the starter kits.  The views and opinions are all my own.
